A great read to think about future

Recently, I’ve got to read an excellent book by Yuval Noah Harari. It is called “Homo Deus: A Brief History of Tomorrow”. You can find it on Amazon.
A couple of years ago I’ve read the previous book “Sapiens: A Brief History of Humankind” and was so impressed that I bought some paper copies and presented to friends. If you haven’t read it yet, I highly recommend to give it a try. It is not only about the history of the species for the last 100,000 years but about the humans’ place on the Earth.
“Homo Deus” continues the story of “Sapiens”, ended on Scientific Revolution, and questions what is next. And for me, as a computer scientist, it is an interesting topic to think about. Harari claims, that all organisms, including Homo Sapiens, is ” an assemblage of organic algorithms … shaped by millions of years of evolution”. And if the point is correct, I absolutely agree that “There is no reason to think that organic algorithms can do things that nonorganic algorithms will never be able to replicate or surpass.” So it is only a matter of time when human algorithms will be surpassed by other algorithms in every field, making humans completely useless. And nobody is able to hit the breaks and stop the progress.
It is only one of the many challenging ideas you face before you reach the last page. Get that book and it will give you plenty of hours of thoughts and probably will change your mindset. Happy reading!
