Some days ago, I reviewed the basic knowledge for iOS development like: iOS Human Interface Guidelines, View Programming Guide for iOS and etc. To my surprise, I thought these basic knowledge should be in my mind, but actually not. I forgot a lot, which I read 2 years ago.

Give an example, there are some recommendations from Apple document for starting and stopping:
“It’s often said that people spend no more than a minute or two evaluating a new app”, so the starting time and contents right after starting are quit important. They suggest “As much as possible, avoid displaying a splash screen or other startup experience”; “Avoid asking people to supply setup information”; “In general, launch in the device’s default orientation”; “Supply a launch image that closely resembles the first screen of the app”; “If possible, avoid requiring users to read a disclaimer or agree to an end-user license agreement when they first start your app”; “When your app restarts, restore its state so that users can continue where they left off”.

These recommendations are not golden rules. But provide the references for us, what iOS apps should like. Of course, if the developers who have enough confidence to make better app than what Apple suggest, then they can create their owns. You can see Apple follows these rules totally in the coming iOS 7, and also in some other products.

In the era of information explosion, which seems not enough time for us to make a pause, we need to keep running to learn more and more knowledge. Why not taking a rest and having a review of the past, you will get a refresh mind.

There is a word in the Lunyu(論語), the analects of Confucius, which said:”温故而知新”. It means gaining new insights through restudying old material.Keeping it in my mind, and enjoying the learning progress in the future.
