I do not deny this, as I tend to ask questions that will give me
answers that I do not want to hear. For example, I asked someone
recently if he finds me difficult to deal with. And the answer was
sadly, yes.
A line in “Raging Waves” goes like “誰かに認められるより まず自分を認めなくちゃ”, which
translates into “before you seek others’ acknowledgment, you have to
first acknowledge yourself”.
Self-improvement can come about from both external pressures and the
want to better oneself. As long as the end result is desirable, I see
nothing wrong with pushing oneself for the sake of being acknowledged
by others, even if it runs the risk of self-destruction.
I have decided to ignore said someone’s response, and work to change
his opinion of me.
