Fasching – Setsubun
chris
Today is Setsubun festival in Japan but I guess I don’t have to tell you.
In germany we have a similar event to get the winter deamons out to move on to spring season.
This event is not restricted to one day, It’s more like being celebrated all over winter, starting at November 11th at 11:11am. Just like halloween was held to scare the ghosts awai, Fasching is the german way of doing so. And just like Halloween, the former scary masks were replaced to all kind of masks with no explicit requirements. Nowadays it’s more or less an excuse for grownups to behave like children and have a good time.
Even though Fasching lasts four month officially, the main events occour in February right before easter. There are big parades through the cities and on TV they show comedy for hours. So many people in the shows have tears in their eyes from laughing so hard.
I do have like almost the same condition right now.
I got one laughing and one crying eye.
I have to go home and I like Japan a lot, so that is sad to leave.
But I am looking forward to meet my friends again and my family.
Good Bye Everyone!
I’ll be back =)
